Tagit is a scan-first social app: you check in at real events and you meet real people, and the app remembers it so you don't have to. This page is a plain account of what that requires us to hold about you, why, and how to make us stop.
Everything below exists because a feature you used needs it — nothing is collected speculatively.
A phone number or email address, used only to send you a one-time code so your card follows you to a new phone. Every install also gets an anonymous session id automatically, which is what lets the app work before you've signed in with anything at all.
Name, an optional nickname, a photo, and whichever social handles you choose to add (Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok, X, WhatsApp). None of this is required beyond a name and a photo — a handle you don't add is a handle we don't have.
Every scan is recorded as a link between two cards, timestamped, and tagged with the event it happened at if you had one active. This is the ledger your rank and your "people met" history are built from — it's the one thing the app fundamentally can't work without.
Which events you've checked into, whether by scanning a door code (verified) or entering one by hand (not), and when. If you host an event yourself, its name, description, location and city are stored so other people can find it.
"Place" here means the event you were at, not your phone's GPS position — Tagit does not currently read your device location. If a future version adds a location check at check-in, this page will say so before that ships, and it'll ask for the permission honestly rather than assuming it.
Tagit's data lives on Supabase, the infrastructure provider that hosts our database, authentication and file storage — they process it on our behalf and don't use it for anything of their own. If you pay to boost an event, that payment is handled by Paystack; we receive confirmation that it succeeded, not your card details. If you add a Snapchat handle, the app links out to Snapchat when you choose to add someone — Snapchat sees that only when you actually tap through.
For as long as your account exists. Tagit's whole idea is a history that doesn't reset, so there's no automatic expiry on old scans or check-ins — the only thing that clears it is you asking us to.
From inside the app: your code → Edit card → Delete my account. It removes your card, every scan in either direction, every check-in, your friendships, and any event you host — from Tagit's servers, immediately, not just from your phone. There's no waiting period and no support ticket required. It cannot be undone.
Tagit is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from anyone under that age. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us below and we'll remove it.
If this changes in a way that matters — what we collect, or who we share it with — the date at the top of this page moves, and we won't backdate a change to make it look older than it is.
